Soap, Hygiene and Hope During Ebola Threats
During an Ebola outbreak, something as simple as soap and clean water can become an important part of community protection.
The 2026 Bundibugyo virus outbreak in DRC and Uganda highlighted the importance of strong infection prevention and community preparedness. WHO has emphasized community engagement, surveillance, contact tracing, supplies, and cross-border preparedness as key components of the response.
Through our work with communities and schools, Good Cause Foundation is promoting practical hygiene practices while supporting access to locally produced soap. We want families, children, teachers, and community members to have the knowledge and basic resources needed to protect themselves.
For us, soap is more than a cleaning product. It represents prevention, dignity, health, and hope.
We are working to strengthen local soap production so that communities can have greater access to affordable hygiene products while creating opportunities for local livelihoods.
But we cannot do this alone.
