Actions for Peace - Peace Begins with Me

By Annette Tejada | Project Leader

We are thrilled to share with you the latest advancements in our ongoing efforts to foster peace in the Dominican Republic. Our most recent event, held on October 31, 2023, at the Escuela Salesiana de Jarabacoa, was a significant milestone in our journey.

The event, themed "Acciones para la Paz - La Paz Empieza Conmigo" (Actions for Peace - Peace Begins with Me), was a dynamic mix of presentations, panels, and interactive sessions designed to engage and inspire participants towards building a more peaceful society.

Event Highlights:

  • Our opening ceremony set a reflective tone for the day, including a moment of blessing and a detailed presentation of our objectives.
  • A compelling artistic presentation kicked off the proceedings, symbolizing the transformative power of peace.
  • The heart of the event was a panel discussion on "Acciones Educativas para Construir Paz" (Educational Actions to Build Peace), where educators and peace advocates discussed strategies for integrating peace-building into educational contexts.
  • An in-depth talk on "La Paz Empieza Conmigo - El Perdón y la Reconciliación" (Peace Begins With Me - Forgiveness and Reconciliation) provided attendees with personal insights and strategies for fostering internal peace and reconciliation.
  • Interactive group dynamics encouraged participants to propose and commit to three personal actions to build peace in their communities.
  • The event concluded with reflections, acknowledgments, and a closing artistic presentation, leaving attendees motivated and empowered.

Impact:
Through this event, we've touched the lives of numerous individuals, equipping them with the knowledge and tools to be ambassadors of peace in their communities. Our activities have sparked conversations, encouraged reflection, and inspired action towards a more harmonious society.

As we continue our mission, your support remains invaluable. Together, we are not just dreaming of a peaceful future; we are actively constructing it, one community at a time.
