It is the beginning of the festive season here in Delhi and the 40 girls in our scholarship program are midway through their school year. Your donation is supporting these girls with their tuition fees, school supplies, and support services. Your support eases the financial strain on families and makes it possible for these girls to attend school.
Meet Tuba.
Tuba is studying in class 6th and is 10 years old. She is spirited and friendly. She led the dance party at our kick off event earlier this year. (see the pictures below)
Tuba lives in Usmanpur with her parents and two brothers and three sisters. Her mother is a housewife and her father supports the family working as a labourer, earning just Rs.1800 ($26) per month. With eight people to support and living in a rented flat, the family is hard-pressed to provide for the basic needs of the family, much less the extra support that Tuba needs for her schooling. Tuba also faced a gap in her education when the family transferred her from Sharstri Park to a government school in Gautampuri. This process of transferring schools took almost one year which made her admission to class 6th a year late. Now she is behind her peers and needs support to make up for this break in her schooling.
Thanks to your donation, Tuba is getting the tuition and support she needs to overcome this gap and make the most of her time at her new school. With extra tuition she is able to catch up on her subjects and enjoy her time in class without pressure or worry from family.
