Kringle the Mousie, Building updates and More!

By Beth Randall | Director

Baby mousie
Baby mousie

Our newest rescues include Kringle the mousie and 3 half wild girl ratties: Holly, Berry & Ivy. All were at a high kill shelter and would have been euthanized if we didn't accept them. Kringle was surrendered on Christmas day because her owner was being institutionalized. A home was found for her hubby Kris, and we took momma Kringle. She had 10 little adorable pups and they will be for adoption soon! The helf wild ratties are not people friendly at all so they are premanent residents. Sadly it is common in the city for a pet rat to get loose in anapartment building and when found be pregnant by a wild male. The babies are often far too skittish to be kept as pets. These girls are our 4th batch of half wilds we have had live here at Critter Camp.

Have you stopped by to watch some of our over 300 videos on our Youtube channel lately?

http://www.youtube.com/crittercamp  Enjoy!

The builder Animal Arts has given us some of the early info on our site study and we published those documents on our building page here: http://crittercamp.weebly.com/early-plans.html  They will be providing a formal report and updated floor plans next. We currently do not have any prospects to fund the building, but Animal Arts will be helping us broaden our search as well.

We have also been interviewed by some proposed reality TV shows recently. One for example is a Shark Tank type for non profits with big ideas, another is a proposed show by the producers of Cake Boss to follow home based animal rescues. We have also joined Periscope- a live stream app which we hope builds a new following. And along those same lines we have been helping beta test a similar app called Waggle that is created by a team backed by Lorne Michaels, the producer of Saturday Night Live. Any of these could have great potential to help us at Critter Camp realize our goal of building a state of the art education rescue facility.

We will keep you posted! Thanks again for all of your support!
