So Many New Rescues!

By Beth Randall | Founder & President

Oh My we have had so many new rescues since our last report!

Welcome New Elder Guinea Pigs: Oreo, Muffin, Ozzy, Sparky-Oreo, Honey, Pepper, Boots, Ellie, Muffin2, Luna, Ginger, GG, Ginge, & Rascal and 2 youngsters with a story!

So the owner of the 2 young guinea pigs did not speak much english and CritterCampMom tried to explain that we only take older guinea pigs, so then he said they were 4- That's still a bit young for us- we usually only take them when they are 5 and up. But since he was unable to understand the other options CritterCampMom agreed to jsut take them. He was very grateful and brought them the next day. Well, we discovered that they were very small - and apparently only 4 MONTHS old not years! On top of that they both weren't boys as we were told. So since female guinea pigs can get pregnant at 2 months old - they are seperated & the little girl is on baby watch! Ideally she will ahve a boy and girl and then we can pair them up and adopt out two sets of 2 piggies. But we'll have to see. She is steadily gaining weight and starting to get pretty round!

And welcome New ratties: Nellie, Joshua, Jeremy, Snowball & Remy. The 4 boys came from a girl who was becoming homeless and she hopes they will only be here temproarily while she finds a new home. But in any case they are happy safe and loved here.

And new ferret Oliver- he is missing an eye and has adrenal disease. He's being treated and has settled in to our ferret room.

Popeye the fennec fox had his annual check up and he has the beginning of liver disease, which is common in older fennecs like him. So he has started on medication and is doing well.

We had a whole home generator donated by Small Charities United so now we do not have to worry about our animals in extreme weather! This is such a godsend knowing that the animals will always have heat in the winter and cooling in the summer even if there are wind or ice storms.

Oh and CritterCampMom celebrated her 65th birthday too, raising some much needed funds for the critters in the process!

Thank you all so very much for your ongoing support of our work here at Critter Camp!

We cannot do it without YOU!!!
