Wow since our last report we have rescued more animals and made incredible progress on our building "Plan B"!
We took in 2 elder guinea pigs and 5 ratties. One elder ratty Iris had lost her cagemate and was very lonely, so now she lives here with Peggy & Pepper a pair of older ladies. Four ratties came to us here in Illinois all the way from New York! They are older and biters and literally no other rescue within hundreds and hundreds of miles would take them so we agreed to. Thanks to volunteers who transported them they are safe and happy here at Critter Camp now.
Plan B - Remodeling the current large outbuilding - 2 story insulated barn - is going GREAT!
So far the upstairs is nearly finished! The rabbits and guinea pigs have moved in upstairs as have a few of the small animals too! The rabbits and guinea pigs are now on fleece blankets instead of shavings which is far better for them and looks really nice too. It is much more labor intensive, but worth it. Check out the before and after pics!
The bathroom still needs to be finished upstairs, but will have a toilet and large washtub sink for cleaning.
Downstairs work has begun on making enclosures for the foxes, Cinnamon the raccoon and the ferrets.
Both levels are fully heated and air conditioned. New windows and doors are in too!
We have run into a few added costs - plumbing and wiring were more than expected so we could use more donations, however we are so grateful for everyone's support and help so far in this huge project!
Thank you to all of our supporters!
