By providing financial assistance for these children we can help the families secure uninsured medical costs or supplies. Children will be aligned with necessary medical care, therapies, medicines, equipment, lab work, imaging services and other related needs that fall through the cracks of existing insurance and social services programs. There are an alarming number of children that are not able to access the secondary (specialty) care they desperately need to treat their medical conditions. One major obstacle confronted by families of children is the lack of providers in their area that subscribe to the families' present health care plan. Another is the rising cost of insurance premiums and high deductibles that make it difficult for families to afford the medical care of their child.
Healing the Children, Florida Chapter's Domestic Program focuses its attention on these children who range in age from 0-18 who are living throughout Florida and are in need of specialty care. Healing the Children's primary goal is to continue to meet the medical needs of the children birth to 18 years of age referred to them, who: 1) live in the local community; 2) are uninsured or under insured; or 3) are ill or have a medical condition.
1. Decrease the number of children ages birth to 18 who have special medical and developmental needs, living in the local community who are not receiving adequate treatment within 3 years as measured by the number of children we are able place with specialist. 2. Decrease familial stress; avoid-increased poverty by placing the children referred to us with required specialist thus decreasing the number of patient's families who acquire debt due to being uninsured /under insured.
