Fighting, famine and floods have struck the people of South Sudan, more than 100,000 people died in the last Nine months' fiercest fighting ever fought between government and opposition forces, leaving over 1.3 million people homeless and 3.8 million in need of immediate assistance (food, safe water, medical services, education, clothes and others basic necessities). UNOCHA, WFP and UNICEF, estimated that over 50,000 children under five years will die of famine and malnutrition this year, 2014
This project will enable CMD, a South Sudanese national NGO to quickly respond to affected women, children and their families with an immediate assistance (food, safe water, medical services, education & other basic necessities). Your support will allow CMD to provide lifesaving supplies to IDPs and vulnerable host communities. As relief moves into recovery, assistance will help victims regain their livelihoods & will ensure children continuance with education for better and prosperous future
Major disasters always require a huge amount of support to provide both immediate relief and recovery. Organisations that are deeply rooted in local communities like CMD are often in the best position to provide long-term support for disaster victims in hard to reach areas. Once recovery work is completed, this fund will support continuance longer-term recovery efforts aimed at building communities resilience and resettle the internally displaced families into their original homes in S.Sudan.
