When the villagers of Wadagaon Tanpura approached CRHP over one year ago, asking to begin a partnership a project village, CRHP staff saw great potential. From the initial baseline surveys, the passion of the villagers has stood out, and their collaborative energy and dedication towards teachings and discussions has compelled great change in the community. Improvement of health indicators, sanitation, and nutrition are clearly visible results that have impacted daily life and health status. Intangibles – community harmony, innovative thinking, increased appreciation of and respect for women, empowerment – are also abundant. Wadagaon Tanpura has progressed from the initial stages of the Jamkhed Model. It is with confidence and positive outlook that CRHP shifts into a role of monitoring, acknowledging the increased capacity of the villagers to think of and create sustainable changes in their community.
Wadagaon Tanpura exemplifies the endurance and effectiveness of the Jamkhed Model. Since its inception over forty years ago, this unique model of healthcare and development has been shared in over 250 villages similar to Wadagaon Tanpura, facilitating change by empowering people to take health into their own hands, utilizing appropriate technology, and integrating health with community development initiatives.
For this final project report, it is of utmost importance to thank our many donors. With less than $600 remaining, the goal amount will certainly be reached! More than 250 people have kindly donated to this project village; on behalf of the CRHP staff and community, as well as the villagers of Wadagaon Tanpura, thank you!
