This project provides a 10 day project-based, experiential learning program for high school students which focuses on STEAM disciplines and 21st century workforce skills. WCTD will be working with several under served communities to ensure students who lack economic mobility and resources will have access to the program and the technology needed to participate in activities across the 10 day program.
The United States is falling behind other developed nations in the areas of science and technology as students emerge from school unprepared to meet challenges presented by rapidly advancing industries. This creates an overwhelming opportunity gap, with over 6.7 million young people unemployed in the United States who lack the opportunity to compete in the marketplace, especially those in low-income communities.
We Connect The Dots is counteracting the current trend by offering unique project-focused, brain-based experiential learning programs to students 13-18 years-old. These programs are immersive summer programs that provide students with invaluable knowledge and insights into STEAM disciplines and careers, as well as training in 21st century workforce skills, such as collaboration, time management, information synthesis, software tools, and programming.
Students who leave our programs will be prepared and trained to seek higher education, skills training, and jobs in areas that will not only offer them a prosperous career, but ensure a capable and dedicated workforce to fill positions in growing technology and scientific industries in the coming years. This ensures stability in our domestic industry and a capable workforce, securing a brighter tomorrow for future generations.
