One of our main goals is to promote livelihoods for the youth in Timor-Leste by offering them opportunities to learn new skills and provide them training.
Since February, we are mentoring a group of young trainees from the RYLA program, so they develop their skills in areas such as business, marketing and, product and community development. During the four-month internship, we are also helping them developing soft skills such as teamwork, self-awareness, responsibility, creativity and time management. We aim to see these young people ready to enter the labour market or contine their studies at the end of the internship.
Providing training to the youth is fundamental for the development of the communities, particularly rural communities. The use of computers and Internet are growing day by day, therefore computer courses are a necessary element in our youth training programs. Our staff with the support from two of the RYLA trainees is providing computer classes to the youth of Atauro. The students are learning new tools that will help them in the future, on their academic and professional life. In a nutshell, we are empowering the communities through computer training, offering them new skills that will be useful for their future.
Empreza Di’Ak promotes climate change mitigation actions, sustainabile livelihoods and support the Zero Plastic Policy. At our center in Atauro, we are providing farming practical training to the local youth where they learn how to plant and take care of a vegetable garden. In this workshop, students are learning the importance of contributing to a greener and eco-friendly world since one of the benefits of growing your own vegetables is to contribute to the reduction of the carbon footprint and plastic usage.
