BOGOTÁ: OPPORTUNITIES FOR 120 CHILDREN & YOUNGTERS.

By Moisés Pedraza – Director, Zuá Foundation

This quarter, we continued the programs operating at the Zua Foundation’s two urban centers. We maintained comprehensive support for children and youth aged 5 to 17, ensuring access to academic guidance, meals, and activities focused on the arts, recreation, sports, and personal development—all made possible by the commitment of our staff and tutors, as well as the support of the families involved.

We made progress in monitoring the learning journeys of the participants at Zuá by comparing the results achieved in the first quarter—across mathematics, reading, writing, and English—with those from the second quarter. This analysis helped identify areas of progress, persistent challenges, and specific actions to be strengthened during the second half of the year.

These results underscored the importance of effective academic support, characterized by consistent monitoring, pedagogical assistance, and individualized reinforcement. Key strengths included the continuity of educational processes, the children's commitment, and the collaborative effort between families and the Foundation. All of this contributed significantly to improving academic performance, strengthening study habits, and fostering the holistic development of the participants. This analysis helped identify areas of progress, persistent challenges, and specific actions to be strengthened during the second half of the year.

Musical training continued with great joy and anticipation. The children are embracing one of the Zuá Foundation's artistic pillars, where theory and practice combine to cultivate great talent. Over the past few months, we have observed their progress through exercises focusing on proper diaphragm use, playing musical instruments, motor skill development, and the ability to stage theatrical productions. Musical learning does more than teach them to play an instrument or sing in a choir; it fosters creativity, motor skills, and teamwork. This confirms once again that music plays a vital role in their holistic development.

There are countless stories and testimonials demonstrating how the Zuá Foundation’s timely support has changed the course of these young people's lives. The guidance provided by tutors has been central to their transformation, leading to significant achievements in emotional and attitudinal growth, autonomy, and academic progress—where learning meant not just getting good grades, but also understanding and discovering the world around them and believing in their own capabilities.

A range of activities, workshops, and practice sessions were held to expand the opportunities available to children, resulting in consistent participation and strong attendance. Supported by various organizations throughout the semester, these efforts showcased valuable collaboration benefiting the children and the Zuá Foundation community.

The provision of high-quality, well-prepared breakfasts, lunches, and snacks has been a cornerstone of participation in programs such as academic support, arts workshops, sports, and the Higher Education Program. These initiatives foster physical and mental development while encouraging participation, unity, and a sense of community among the children and tutors.

All of this has been made possible thanks to our donors, who believe that supporting children and young people can change the course of their lives.

BOGOTÁ: OPPORTUNITIES FOR 120 CHILDREN & YOUNGTERS.

By Moisés Pedraza – Director, Zuá Foundation
