BOGOTÁ: OPPORTUNITIES FOR 120 CHILDREN & YOUNGTERS.

By Moisés Pedraza – Director, Zuá Foundation

Our heartfelt thanks to each one of our friends and donors who have supported us, a true testament to the power of solidarity. We began 2026 with 100 children enrolled at our two urban locations, Patio Bonito and Bosa, suburbs of Bogotá, and have continued with the following achievements:

Nutrition: We continue with the Nutrition Program as a cornerstone of the Foundation, guaranteeing breakfasts, lunches, and snacks to the vulnerable population at our two locations. This effort has been fundamental in ensuring attendance and participation in our other programs, especially considering the high rates of poverty that affect the food security of the families we serve. In Bogotá, food insecurity remains a considerable challenge, which is why we seek to mitigate this problem in the vulnerable populations we serve.

Holistic Development: In the educational sphere, the Foundation is consolidating a significant innovation: organizing students into groups based on their individual abilities and progress, rather than their grade level. This strategy relies on more personalized support and the use of academic platforms to reinforce learning. In a review of the children's and young people's overall performance, we have found positive results, not only in academic achievement but also in the participants' interest, sense of belonging, and collaborative skills, generating a notable change in behavior.

Arts Program: The arts continue to be a fundamental pillar and are sparking growing interest among children and young people. The Foundation emphasizes that artistic activities contribute to the development of essential skills such as attention, concentration, teamwork, and self-esteem, which in turn positively impact academic performance. This year, the focus is on coordination and motor skills through rhythmic games, and students are strengthening their learning of lyres, keyboards, guitar, percussion (drums, xylophone), and electric bass.

Likewise, theater and dance continue to be a very special space within the Foundation, where children and young people have found a different way to express themselves, discover themselves, and enjoy themselves through movement and rhythm. Several of the children who participate in dance also participate in music, so, over time, they have managed to integrate it as part of their lives and their identity within the Foundation, recognizing that they have multiple talents and can explore them in different languages such as body, sound, and movement.

In January, the university tutors from Patio Bonito and Bosa, and the university and pre-university students from Senderos, 22 in total, we were gathered, with the desire to prepare ourselves to accompany the children who place their trust in us. This camp was not just a day of work, but a space for encounter, reflection, and detailed planning for a year that promises great challenges and rewards.

All these achievements are the result of an effort between everyone; the girls and boys, the mothers, the tutors, the three coordinators of the headquarters, the food preparation teams, the management team and the donors who provide the financial resources. To everyone, a thousand thanks and the invitation to continue during this year 2026, working intensely to help change lives, promote dreams, and help make these dreams come true.

Thanks to your support, we are changing lives and building a future where dreams come true.

BOGOTÁ: OPPORTUNITIES FOR 120 CHILDREN & YOUNGTERS.

By Moisés Pedraza – Director, Zuá Foundation
