Summary

In Lagos, many public primary schools face severe infrastructure issues, leaving thousands of children to learn in unsafe environments. This project aims to transform 20 underserved schools by repairing classrooms, roofs, windows, toilets, and installing essential hand-washing stations. By creating safe, healthy spaces free from distractions of poor conditions, we empower students to thrive and build bright futures. With your support, we are not just fixing facilities but transforming lives.

Challenge

Damaged ceilings, cracks, leaks, broken furniture, and uneven floors-these are the harsh realities children in Lagos public schools face daily. Unsafe conditions pose health risks, create trip hazards, and make learning uninspiring. Overcrowding and poor sanitation make it more difficult for children to focus on their education. These challenges directly contribute to high absenteeism rates due to illness and impact students' overall well-being and academic performance.

Solution

This project will improve 20 facilities in underserved public primary schools across 5 local government areas in Lagos by renovating classrooms (patching roofs, replacing doors/windows, and adding furnishings), building and refurbishing toilets to ensure safe sanitation, and installing hand-washing stations to promote hygiene. These improvements will create safe, sanitary spaces that encourage regular attendance, promote health and well-being, and support a positive educational experience.

Long-Term Impact

This project will transform education for over 9,000 children by reducing illness-related absences through clean, safe facilities and improved sanitation. Hand-washing stations will instill lifelong hygiene habits, while comfortable classrooms enhance focus, engagement, and academic outcomes. Beyond the classroom, this initiative empowers students to pursue education with confidence, breaking the cycle of poverty and laying the foundation for stronger communities and brighter futures.
