Progress Report: School Revamp - Creating Clean and Safe Classrooms

Project Title: School Revamp - Creating Clean and Safe Classrooms for Public Schools

Prepared By: Better You Africa Initiative (BYAI)

Date: October 2025

Impact Summary: A Movement of Safety and Hope

In the heart of Lagos State, where classrooms brim with potential but often lack essential safety tools, Better You Africa Initiative (BYAI) is rewriting the narrative; one school at a time.

Despite modest fundraising returns, just under $1,000 across three campaigns, BYAI turned constraint into creativity. By weaving this initiative into our 2025 Back to School Outreach and the vibrant Community Arts & Design Festival, we transformed limited resources into lasting impact.

The result? Ten schools reached. Twenty-two first aid kits delivered. Over 1,000 students empowered with safer, healthier learning environments.

  • Brigade Cantonment Primary School received 3 kits
  • 9th Brigade Cantonment Primary School received 3 kits
  • Eight secondary schools across four districts in Lagos state were equipped with 16 kits through the Arts & Design Festival.

These kits are more than supplies, they’re symbols of care. They help schools respond swiftly to minor injuries, reinforce hygiene practices, and build a culture of health preparedness among students and teachers alike.

In every zip of a kit and every bandage applied, a message rings clear: safety is not a privilege, it’s a promise. And together, we’re keeping that promise alive.

  • Collaboration with schools and local authorities ensured transparency and sustainability.
  • Providing tangible safety resourcing like first aid kits encouraged stronger school engagement and trust.

Planned Actions and Future Goals

  • Broaden outreach to additional schools through upcoming GlobalGiving campaigns.
  • Begin minor classroom and sanitation repairs in pilot schools once funds are available.

Final Remarks and Donor Appreciation

Every donation, regardless of size, continues to create meaningful, visible change in Lagos schools. Together, we are empowering children to learn in safer, cleaner, and more inspiring classrooms. Thank You!
