Creating Clean, Safe Classrooms for Lagos Children

Since launching our fundraising campaign on GlobalGiving, we have made steady progress toward establishing clean and safe learning environments for students in underserved schools. Although physical renovations have not yet commenced, we have been actively engaging with key stakeholders, assessing current school conditions, and refining our strategy to ensure impactful implementation once adequate funding is secured. Our on-site visits and comprehensive assessments have provided invaluable insights into the urgent renovation needs of the schools. The positive response from teachers, parents, and local education officials has reinforced our project’s relevance and urgency. Furthermore, recognition from the local education board is instrumental in facilitating the regulatory approvals and permits required for future renovations.

Fundraising Update

To date, our GlobalGiving campaign has raised $317 as of 29 January 2025. Although this amount does not yet meet the threshold for initiating renovations, we are intensifying our fundraising efforts. We are actively engaging prospective donors and raising awareness about the project, with a concentrated five-week period before the school break to secure additional funds.

Challenges and Strategic Adjustments

We continue to face challenges, notably funding limitations and the need for regulatory approvals. However, proactive stakeholder engagement has mitigated these challenges to a significant extent. At the end of the current session, we will reassess the funds raised to determine if major renovations can be implemented during the school break. Should funding remain insufficient, the available resources will be redirected to provide essential cleaning, sanitation, and first aid supplies.
