Challenge

The Shevchenkove community has been affected by hostilities since 2022, damaging infrastructure and disrupting community life. The village of Shevchenkove, the community's center with 3,224 residents, has no safe space for physical activity or emotional relief. Among residents are 156 internally displaced persons and veterans who need help recovering their health and relieving stress, plus 845 older people and 330 children who need a safe, active space for their health and social engagement

Solution

The project will equip the 2nd floor of the Palace of Culture as a recovery space: a cardio and strength zone, functional training equipment, and stretching gear, plus storage furniture. Located above the People in Need youth space on the 1st floor, it will complement that space, turning the Palace of Culture into a comprehensive recovery hub for residents of all ages, including veterans, displaced persons, older people, and children

Long-Term Impact

The project will benefit 3224 residents by giving them a safe space for physical activity and emotional recovery. Veterans and 156 displaced persons will receive key support for rehabilitation and adaptation. Older people (845) and children (330) will gain a space to strengthen health and social ties. Combined with the youth space downstairs, the Space of Strength will form a sustainable recovery hub at the community's heart, supporting residents' wellbeing for years to come
