Phase1-Quarter3-2024 Project Report for Create Domestic Livelihood Assets

The project under nameCREATEDOMESTIC LIVELIHOODASSETS FOR REFUGEES” targets to strengthen capacity to respond to low household incomes in refugee settlements in Uganda.

CELEBRATED OUTCOME- Quarter 3 2024 Achievements

500 individuals (350 refugees and 150 from host community) out of the target 1,000 (600 refugees and 400 from host community) have been skilled in the last three months (Q3 2024) and started benefiting in the creation of livelihood assets in Nakivale refugee settlement and host community in Uganda.

The project has currently started boosting household or domestic incomes as a need for supporting psychosocial and economic recovery in refugee and host communities through training and dissemination of skills for creation of Domestic livelihood assets such as kitchen gardens for nutrition, vegetable and woodlots nursery beds, formation of compost manure, digging underground water reservoirs.

Completed Activities- Quarter 3 2024.

  • Community/Beneficiaries consultation and sensitization in 3 refugee zones.
  • Profiling of 500 beneficiaries for identification and grouping-Member Cards given.
  • Home surveys in 5 homes for environment and social screening- digging of 2 water reservoirs in two homes.
  • Set up of 1 demonstration gardens/sites for skilling/training.in livelihood Assets creation.
  • Procurement and delivery of stationary-Registers and Project IDs, for500/1,000 target beneficiaries.
  • Identification and training of 2 Local Trainers-Group representatives for the current demonstration site.

Planned Activities for Quarter1 2025

  • Training/skilling in Domestic Assets creation to 500 beneficiaries (350 refugees and 150 from host community).
  • Financial literacy to 500 beneficiaries skilled in Domestic Asset creation in Quarter3 2024.
  • Quarterly monitoring and support supervision through home surprise visits-will require purchase data collection tools-tablet for project monitoring.
  • Procurement of project tools-(watering cans, garden tools, protective gears, horse pipes) to be distributed to trained persons.
  • Purchase and distribution of vegetable seeds and woodlots seedlings to 500 beneficiaries.
  • Hydrological survey and digging water facility-bore halls at the demonstration sites.
  • Digging 4 pilot irrigation facilities (under ground tanks) in selected 4 homes-4 per quarter.
