Poverty 2 Prosperity's Women's Fund is really successful. Our fundraiser on GlobalGiving brought in over $5500, which was invested in micro loans on our platform. Since our first loan was made on November 1, 2014, our borrowers have repaid $3,362.26. Twenty six loans have been fully repaid with seven additional ones that borrowers repaid fully, but currency exchange losses caused a minor loss. However, the majority of these 33 loans were to groups of women instead of individuals, so the impact on number of families touched is much higher! There are 323 loans that are active still. All funds are being reinvested in women's lives around the world.
There is more great news! GlobalGiving has promoted Poverty 2 Prosperity. When an organization has met specific goals--including donations made, number of donors and time on GlobalGiving, they can become eligible for matching for projects that meet specifications. Each and every person who donated to the Women's Fund helped us achieve this goal, and we have opened a new fund that takes advantage of our new status. Our new Youth Fund has been accepted to Microsoft's YouthSpark matching program, so every dollar donated becomes two! How awesome is that?
The Youth Fund will help another vulnerable group--young people under 24 years old. We will help them by investing in their future--education or a business enterprise. Unemployment typically is much higher for this group than those who are older. Giving people a way to move forward gives hope and opportunity. People have said that young males with hope are focused on moving forward in a positive way. Young females who continue education tend to wait longer to marry and have children.
Please consider helping out our Youth Fund so that we can help the next generation. Here is a link to Youth Fund fundraiser:
