Dear Green Rhinos Supporter,
This is the start of a busy time for the Green Rhinos in the Sundarbans, with the onset of the monsoon rains and tree planting season beginning. We have requested the Forest Department to give us 10,000 tree saplings which the Green Rhinos will plant. They are also raising tree saplings from seeds.
Arpita of Baikunthapur High School looks after the saplings she planted last year in their home garden. She is keen to plant more saplings by the side of their pond this year. Arpita also participated in an Art and Nature Camp conducted under the Green Rhinos Program. Arpita promises “I will combat global warming and save our loving planet by afforestation and green initiatives here in the remotest part of Sundarbans”.
“I am proud to be involved in environment building activities by our Green Rhinos Team. We wish to plant more trees to keep our surroundings green and clean. It is our promise to save Sundarbans from floods and cyclones”, says Debasree of Ambikanagar Haripriya High School.
Since April 2014, the Green Rhinos Program in also being conducted in a school in Kolkata. We are excited to see what projects they create and implement!
Our target is to create 5,000 Green Rhinos in India by December 31, 2014. Do spread the word and continue your support so that the cadre of youth nature leaders grows, creating a greener, c;leaner and pollution free world!
