Dear Green Rhino Supporter,
It is with great pleasure that we let you know that 1100 Green Rhinos are going strong in the Indian Sundarbans!
After planting over 7000 trees and conducting garbage cleaning drives, this year the Green Rhinos are hard at work with their current tree plantation plans. They plan to plant 11,000 tree saplings of which approximately one third will be raised by the Green Rhinos teams. Project work will start from May 2014.
Teams will create compost pits in their schools. They will make organic manure from the waste collected in the pits and use this manure for tending the tree saplings that they will plant. Some teams will conduct an awareness campaign for nature protection.
Shefali Maity, a Green Rhino who is now assisting with training others, says, "It is my dream to plant 25,000 trees in Sundarbans".
Expansion plans for the Program with schools in Kolkata are underway. The Program will also start in the tea garden area in North Bengal in the latter part of 2014.
Thank you for being a part of our team. Do spread the word so that the Green Rhinos Program can spread to other parts of India and the world!
With warm regards,
Diti
