The International Rescue Committee is managing a global response to COVID-19, implementing preparedness work in all 40+ countries where we operate, and providing life-saving programs in areas of widespread transmission. Vulnerable populations and those living in crisis have been hit the hardest by this outbreak. We are working across three key areas: to mitigate and respond to the spread; protect IRC staff; and ensure the continuation of our existing programming globally.
With coronavirus spreading globally, and now confirmed in crisis-affected countries with IRC operations, like Afghanistan, Iraq, Burkina Faso and Venezuela, the International Rescue Committee (IRC) is ramping up its response to the outbreak with a focus on crisis zones with especially weak health systems.
The IRC is providing life-saving programs in countries threatened by the disease. We are working across three key areas: to mitigate and respond to the spread of coronavirus within vulnerable communities; protect IRC staff; and ensure the continuation of our life-saving programming as much as possible across more than 40 countries worldwide. We urgently need additional funding and support to put this plan into action across all areas of operation.
The IRC is calling upon our international community to invest in helping to strengthen our capacity to contain and prevent transmission of COVID-19 in affected countries where the IRC currently operates. Your gift will help us reach impacted families and help ensure IRC staff can continue our existing lifesaving programs in coronavirus-affected countries.
