COVID19 HARDSHIP SUPPORT

The Covid 19 pandemic has affected the lives of millions of people around the world, especially those who are already vulnerable and marginalized. Among them are children with disabilities, who face unique challenges and risks due to the health crisis and its social and economic consequences.

Children with disabilities are more likely to have underlying health conditions that make them susceptible to severe Covid 19 infection and complications. For example, some children with cerebral palsy and Autism Spectrum disorder may have impaired respiratory function and difficulty coughing. Some children with disabilities may also have difficulty following preventive measures, such as wearing masks, washing hands, or maintaining physical distance.

Moreover, children with disabilities had reduced access to healthcare services and essential medications during the pandemic, due to lockdowns, travel restrictions, or overwhelmed health systems. They also faced discrimination and stigma when seeking health care, as some providers may prioritize other patients or lack the skills and equipment to accommodate their needs.

This project has been key in solving issues and challenges of children with autism in Kenyan slums and making sure that both the children and their caregivers get access to medical attention, food supplies, and therapy services alongside counseling and hygiene equipment from time to time.
