Our project is distributing staple foods (rice, pulses, mustard oil, wheat flour, potatoes, salt, sugar and soap) to migrant workers and daily wage laborers in rural India where there is limited access to essential goods during the COVID-19 lockdown.
COVID-19 has created an uncertain future for the 140 million migrant workers and daily wage laborers in India, due to their limited access to staple foods and drinking water. Furthermore, with no income due to the nationwide lockdown, the impacted families are placed in an increasingly vulnerable state and are subject to hunger, malnutrition, starvation and exploitation, in addition to the pandemic.
From the end of March 2020, My Choices Foundation has been distributing the following items to people in rural communities: rice, pulses, mustard oil, wheat flour, potatoes, salt, sugar and soap. Through our NGO network, we are identifying people in Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Telangana and West Bengal who have little to no access to essential goods and ensuring that these staple foods are distributed using safe social distancing practices.
With your support, a donation of $25 will provide staple foods for one family for one month. My Choices Foundation is working to ensure that migrant workers and daily wage laborers from vulnerable communities are not suffering from hunger, malnutrition, starvation and exploitation - in addition to the COVID-19 pandemic. When you donate to this project, 100% of your donation will go toward purchasing and distributing essential goods to people in need.
