The impact of Covid-19 has been that many families lost jobs . We initiated the Home Garden pilot project because we wish to stay connected to the learners and community, yet not get sidetracked from our education drive.
We saw this as an opportunity to run a pilot project to alleviate the food scarcity in the area. We collaborated with another NGOs partner who are expert in Home Gardent Project as we lacked practical knowledge in farming and this operation educates us. We are receiving ‘free’ training and support on farming strategies. In turn, learners and their families are gaining valuable skills and knowledge. This project is an opportunity to strengthen our relationship with the communities.
In July we purchased and brought seeds to five families which we regularly visit and monitor. They are successful in supplementing their own nutritional needs, and also generate income through selling their produce at the market.
Kamboo Project is a young NGO and we do not have regular donors to tide us over this slump in contributions. Under the present conditions, there are limited possibilities to source and contact new donors. Seed donations will greatly assist more families in the villages to grow their own vegetables to create much needed income. In order to continue helping the families to help themselves, we need funds to purchase seeds, fertilizer and tools to continue as well as expand this Home Garden effort.
Thanks very much to all supports who already funded this project and we wish to continuce this project and your fund will make this work possible.
Best Regards,
