We appreciate your support for this project. I am writing to share some updates about ActionAid’s emergency response for Covid-19 Relief in India. Thank you for taking your time to learn about and support our work.

Climate disaster, conflict, displacement, and other humanitarian crises have and continue to disproportionately affect marginalized communities. The impacts of Covid-19 are no different. ActionAid prioritizes women as part of its human right- based approach to emergency response, and it shows in our work. To prevent gender-based violence during these tough times, we have provided safe spaces for women and girls. We have also prioritized children by providing them with educational materials and toys. In order to continue Covid-19 relief, we have educated local leaders on Covid-19 prevention, provided dignity and hygiene kits, and have spread important health-related information to communities in India.

Now more than ever, your commitment to justice makes a difference in many lives. Thank you for your support and solidarity.

Thank you so much for your support of this project. I’m writing to share some updates from ActionAid’s emergency response for Covid-19 Relief for India. We appreciate you taking the time to learn about and act in response to this crisis.

ActionAid’s humanitarian signature continues to focus on local leadership that is women-led and rights-based, because we know that pandemics, climate disasters, conflicts, and displacements disproportionally affect women and marginalized populations. Thanks to your continued support, we’ve been able to continue our plans on educating local leaders on Covid-19 prevention, disseminating important health information and materials, providing dignity and hygiene kits, and preventing cases of gender-based violence by providing safe spaces for women and girls. We are also still supporting children by providing educational materials and toys.

If you can, please consider sharing this project with your network, so we can continue to support those on the frontlines of poverty and injustice. Now more than ever, your commitment to justice makes a difference. Thank you for your support and solidarity.

Thank you so much for your support of this project. I’m writing to share some updates from ActionAid’s emergency response in India. We appreciate you taking the time to learn about and act in response to this crisis.

Disasters, crises, and conflicts have a disproportionate effect on women. They increase the likelihood of women's human rights violations, they often exclude women from decision making processes, and they deny women access to resources.

The pandemic has been no different, as it has exacerbated existing inequalities and vulnerabilities across populations in India,  particularly among women and girls.

ActionAid manages several projects to support those who are most affected. Our work with young women and girls living in urban areas in India supports them with skill building, entrepreneurship, educational opportunities, recognizing and claiming sexual and reproductive rights, and addressing violence at home and harassment in public spaces.

Further, throughout the pandemic ActionAid has supported young women to advocate on their own behalf to strengthen laws and policies that support their rights and safety, such as an increase in gender responsive public services, like streetlights and toilets.

Despite being the population hardest hit by the pandemic, ActionAid's work has reached thousands of young women and girls across India, building their confidence and leadership and supporting them to mobilize and advocate for systematic shifts that will strengthen their rights for decades to come. This response is possible thanks to the generosity of supporters like you. Thank you for being part of the ActionAid team!

Dear ActionAid Supporter,

First of all: thank you! Because of you, our photo captured by photographer Sahiba Chawdhary made it to 13th place out of more than 150 entries in GlobalGiving’s 2021 Photo Contest! Although we didn’t win, we are still honored to have your support in continuing to respond to the immediate needs of frontline communities in India.

While we’ve got you here, we also wanted to take a moment to shine a spotlight on the other people fueling our Covid-19 response in India:

Santvir is a volunteer-driver who has been working with the ActionAid community for over a year now. As part of our Covid-19 relief, he drives the food van with volunteers to various locations for distribution.

Rakesh has been working with ActionAid’s Delhi regional team for over 3 years now. He is currently leading our relief program, conducting awareness campaigns, and helping run the Covid helpline for counseling and assistance on prevention and best health practices.

ActionAid Supporter, ActionAid is and has always been fueled by people power – people like you! Together, we can accomplish so much. Together, we will continue to connect people to Covid-19 tests, offer public health education, and advocate to enhance public services.

Thank you for your commitment to human rights.

In gratitude,
Francis
