Thank you for contributing to a better global community where no one is left out.
Global Civic Sharing continues to provide food aid to refugees in Myanmar with your donation. What you gave was not just food, but support and solidarity to the refugees. Even though you are not directly affected by the regional blockade and restrictions on movement that refugees are suffering from, you showed compassion Thank you so much for your courage and precious heart. We are making a difference in the lives of many, and none of it would have been possible without your warm encouragement and generous support.
The advent of Covid-19 brought a new challenge
As you all know, the current situation in Myanmar is alarming. The number of refugees is increasing due to the military coup, and additional support including food for refugees is desperately needed. More than 10,000 refugees are currently under evacuation in the Karen area alone, some of whom are trying to cross the Thai border for safety but are denied access. As the crisis continues to get worse and civil war is escalating, residents who have lost their homes now have nowhere to go.
Global Civic Sharing will be with them until the end.
Continuous food distribution and livelihood support are needed for refugees to stay safe in the village. We invite our GlobalGiving community to give a lot of attention and encouragement to the case of the refugees in Myanmar. Thank you so much.
Even if we can't meet in person, we are together at heart
Thanks to the efforts and help of every supporter, rice was acquired in Myanmar and delivered to the village on the condition that only goods are being passed through the border with the exception of people. From Myanmar to the border, and from the border to the village, it took more time to transport than usual, but everyone was willing to deliver hope to the Myanmar refugees. On November 26th and 27th, we were able to provide rice to 230 households in Karen state. It wasn't just rice that was given to the isolated village, but it was also the greetings and support from all of you. Once again, thank you for encouraging refugees to overcome their difficulties.
Global Civic Sharing will be with the refugees until the end of the poverty.
Refugees living near the borders have made their living by moving across borders as day by day laborers. However, their situation has worsened with the border closure causing them to lose their jobs and eventually run out of food. While confirmed COVID-19 cases continue to be reported in both Myanmar and Thailand, GCS stands in solidarity with refugees until the day when COVID-19 comes to an end.
Amid the hardships experienced due to COVID-19, your partnership is most worthy and grateful for global neighbors. We are looking forward to our next update about the way in which your generosity is making a difference for the refugees in Myanmar.
In gratitude,
Global Civic Sharing
Thanks to the Donors, We Were Able to Give Refugees Hope
GCS raised funds to provide food for vulnerable refugee families. Thanks to your interest and contribution, we were able to achieve the target amount. A total of 46 donors raised $5,050 for our project in supplying food packages to refugee families.
The COVID-19 Food Relief Project for Refugees in Myanmar
This food relief project helps about 200 refugee families who live in the Thai-Myanmar border. After many years of living in foreign soil as refugees, they resettled in Karen State to begin their lives. However, due to COVID-19, they have become more marginalized and it has become more difficult for them to escape poverty. GCS will carry out the food relief project for the most vulnerable refugee families.
The COVID-19 Lockdown Has Delayed the Provision of Food
Currently we are waiting for an appropriate time to transfer food. With the recent surge of confirmed cases in Myanmar, COVID-19 lockdown measures have been tightened. This has made the movements of food and necessities completely impossible. Once the lockdown is eased, GCS will begin to provide food for about 150 families.
We appreciate you for standing with global neighbors. You made refugees be able to move forward in their lives. Thank you so much!
