Help us ensure that we have all the resources to support 240 children and adults with disabilities in 2021. The COVID-19 pandemic has meant that we face a reduction in our usual funding sources. With positive cases rising in Sri Lanka once again and local lockdowns in place, we don't expect our situation to return to 'normal' any time soon. This project aims to fill the funding gap and keep everyone safe and well.
In March 2020 we faced a dramatic decrease in donations due to the COVID-19 pandemic and lockdown. Thanks to kind help from our supporters, we were able to cover our costs for 2020. Sri Lanka continues to suffer the consequences of the pandemic - many people are suffering economically. The situation will not be resolved in the short-term and our funding sources have not yet returned to usual levels. We urgently require funds to pay for costs in 2021 such as salaries, food and medicine.
Throughout the pandemic, all branches of Prithipura Communities have remained on lockdown in order to protect the vulnerable children and adults who live with us. Many would be at high risk of severe symptoms of COVID-19 due to pre-existing health conditions. The health and well-being of those who live with us remains our highest priority. If essential costs are supported, we can continue to ensure that those with disabilities who live with us receive excellent care and good nutrition.
We have weathered the storm so far and ensured that we have enough resources to care for and protect the children and adults with disabilities who live with us. With secure funding for 2021, we can continue this work ensuring that those who live with us continue to have the best opportunities for growth and development.
