The newly found COVID-19 is spreading rapidly around the world. Indian Government initially announced country lock down effective from March 24-31, 2020 and was extended till July 31. Mostly, the unorganized sector and daily wage labor, low income citizens are panicked and worried on the front line of crisis. The fund will support immediate and recovery the life of vulnerable communities through awareness, distribution of hygiene kits and nutritious food.
Everyone is suffering from this unpredictable crisis on health and uncertain circumstances. During this lock down period, the condition is getting worse and difficult for vulnerable and food insecure communities, per-existing medical conditions, senior citizens, Daily wage labors, homeless and migrants. And providing immediate humanitarian response at current moment is extremely challenging. Food Security Initiative India is coordinating with local government to support in difficult time
This project will help the vulnerable communities to have at least at one meal to be alive and live without fear. On top of this, your immense support will cover the distribution of surgical masks, alcohol contained sanitizers, hand wash, soap, medicine recommended by medical experts, access to foods and essential items on the front lines of the crisis for the most vulnerable that break virus spreading cycle.
The lockdown has already disproportionately hurt marginalized communities due to loss of livelihood and food insecurity, shelter, health, and other basic needs. We believe that organization operating in local communities are best positioned to lead long-term plans to combat COVID-19 pandemic. The fund will help to build stronger response capacities in communities and adopt measures to protect poorest and most vulnerable people so that we are all better equipped to face this outbreak and sustain.
