This project will help the people affected by floods throughout Mexico by providing free medical supplies and consultations as well as food and basic goods to the local residents impacted by the floodwaters, a problem that has become more and more common in the country due to an unusually high level of rainfall during the present rain season.
During the 2024 rainy season, Mexico has faced widespread flooding due to persistent heavy rains. Hurricane John is currently striking Mexico's West Coast, having caused 10 deaths so far, forcing more than 2,400 people out of their homes and destroying essential infrastructure that has left local populations in a state of emergency. The people who have been injured and/or displaced by Hurricane John need access to food, clean water and medical assistance and goods urgently.
Our project will provide food, drinking water, hygiene goods and medical services that are needed urgently by the people affected by the floods and by those who have contracted illnesses and infections due to the spread of contaminated waters.
The actions that we will take at sites affected by floods could potentially save lives and will limit the impact of diseases and medical conditions being exacerbated by the crises on the members of the local community, thus easing the community's transition out of the crisis and preventing tragedies that could have long-term effects on the well-being of the community.
