The past four months have been incredibly dynamic, with exciting developments alongside our regular work! Thanks to your generous support, we continue to innovate and assist those in our care in acquiring valuable skills, nurturing their talents, and achieving success.
A team of young people and adults took part in the National Para Athletics Championships. The team won many medals, including a silver medal in the shotput event.
Dananjana, Rehara and Nethmini embarked on a level 3 NVQ vocational training course in Food and Beverage. Over the next nine months, this course will blend classroom learning with practical experience at the renowned Mount Lavinia Hotel. They are relishing the opportunity to acquire new skills, gain work experience, and meet new people.
We also celebrated Poson, a Buddhist festival marking the arrival of Buddhism in Sri Lanka, with vibrant events at all our locations. Highlights included a lively 'perahera' (parade) at the Infants Home featuring special costumes, and handmade decorations.
The Infants Home hosted a ‘village sale’, inviting the local community to purchase items grown or made at Prithipura, offering a wonderful chance to showcase our work.
Cotagala School and Asokapura Farm organised an evening of drama and music, highlighting many individual talents. This event is part of a series of performances leading up to a major showcase at a national theatre later this year.
Thank you, as always, for your invaluable support. Every dollar you contribute makes a significant impact, helping to build lives and create opportunities.
