Dear friends,
Thank you so much for your support to Sphoorti, unstinted, every month. Your generosity helps us focus on the welfare of children instead of getting stressed about financial resources.
In July 2020, we focused on keeping in touch with children who have been repatriated to their legal guardians. We have also made sure that there is no financial burden on some of the family members because of their wards staying at home for more than 4 months. In some cases, we sent money and in some instances, we provided grocery kits to those who could visit Sphoorti campus.
Through friends like you, we have been able to provide gadgets like Laptop and mobiles to some of our children who are attending online classes at STD XI and XII level.
As the schools have been shut, the teachers working in private schools are facing pay cuts and terminations. To help some of them, we started a campaign to provide Groceries worth Rs 1500 / USD 20 which would help them meet their food requirements for a month. So far, we have reached about 600 teachers while our target is to reach 2000 teachers in distress.
A big news for July has been a donation of $18,000 for classrooms for our proposed Sphoorti Model school. The donor organization is US-based Guru Krupa Foundation which earlier supported construction of 4 rooms.
The Covid situation in Hyderabad and vicinity is not good. We hope that things will be back to normal in September/October. Meanwhile, we are procuring the necessary infrastructure for our school - dual desks, chairs, storage etc. A friend has donated a 55 in Television and another friend has offered to give 5 Projectors when our school starts functioning. We also received a donation of Rs 5 Lakhs for school from V-Guard last month.
