The villagers in Katuwaghat Village, Nepal, have seen success during COVID-19 because of the lessons from the Transformational Community Development program.
For the past year and a half, we have continued to teach them how to be safe from COVID-19. Every person in this village knows the importance of working together to stop the spread of COVID-19 and feel safe due to the preventative lessons!
We were able to reach out to villagers safely by visiting door-to-door and teaching them how to prevent and stop the spread of COVID-19. When I visited with them, I taught about sanitation and about the prevention of other seasonal diseases. Many villagers were still washing their clothes in the dirty river water and taking baths there. Because of this, many people were infected with herpes, diarrhoea and skin diseases. It has been important to teach good hygienic practices to continue to promote a good standard of health!
Despite COVID-19 and the lockdowns, people are financially succeeding through income generation. Many families have multiplied their seed money and raised their income. Inspired by TCD lessons and regular follow-up classes, the villagers are encouraged to advance their abilities and carry out better activities in the field.
All of the schools are still closed due to the lockdown. We have advised them to teach their children at home in the morning and evening until the school reopens.
We are very encouraged to see how TCD is helping and empowering these villagers. Thank you for all of the support and spreading hope during these difficult times!
