Italy is the one of the countries most affected by coronavirus, by now: Francesca Rava Foundation is in the forefront of the Coronavirus Emergency to help Hospitals and fragile communities. We are getting beds, ventilators, and lifesaving medical supplies to support Covid Intensive Care Units in Italian Hospitals; we are sending doctors, nurses, and other front line responders to Intensive Care Units in the critic areas; we are delivering masks and disinfectants to fragile communities.
Covid-19 pandemic is an unprecedent event in Italian history. Italy has overtaken Chinas's death toll, despite of the lockdown measures taken. Intensive Care Units in the Northern part of Italy have been under pressure for weeks, and the number of patients needing intensive care is still on the rise. 10% and more of doctors and nurses have been infected and cannot be on duty. The lockdown is affecting the most vulnerables, especially minors in Foster care who need masks and hygiene products.
Francesca Rava Foundation is in the forefront of the pandemic, in collaboration with Institutions and Hospitals Management. Through our network we provide all the equipments (intensive care beds, xray units, sonographs, ventilators) for emergency intensive care wards that need to urgently open their doors to an increasing number of patients in Milan and other cities. Francesca Rava Foundation is also helping Foster care homes and shelters delivering masks, hygiene products and food.
All the medical equipment will be permanently donated to the Italian hospitals. Francesca Rava Foundation is building a strong root in the community, strengthening the response capacities to such emergencies in the future and the Health system as well. FRF is also showing that a new model of intervention, based on a collaborative network of Institution, Health System, Non profit-sector, works very well. This is a model of intervention that can help in other disaster reliefs.
