Dindigul District,there are as many as 135 children infected and 400 children affected by HIV/AIDS living in the area. There are no other child support projects to provide nutrition, education and home based care. Children are in malnutrition and not able to maintain immunity to keep CD4 count more than 300. Many of them belonging rural and poor population, they economically weak to access nutrition and care. This situation affects their education. MEERA would like to save the children.
The presence of this project for the children will help to strengthen the family's capacity to care for them by providing nutrition, education and psycho-social supports. The parents will be trained on child care and child nutrition.
This project will strengthen 300 parents to care of 135 HIV infected children in a year by the provision of nutrition, medical care and income generation support to families.
