Our sanctuary recently took in 9 homeless horses. Although they have pens, we must build three shelters to shield them from the 110-degree heat & torrential downpours of the Arizona summer.
As a horse sanctuary, we provide 'forever homes' to previously abandoned, neglect, injured or abused horses. Because of the recent difficult economy, more & more horses are finding themselves without homes. Over the past several months, we've taken in 9 new horses. Although they are currently living in big pens, those pens do not have shelter roofing. And, with the 110-degree temperatures & downpours of the Arizona summer, it's imperative we build those shelters within the next three months.
The three 12'x20' shelters we will build will provide shade from the sun & shelter from the rain.
Our plan is to add these 9 horses to our existing program that provides equine education to the area's elementary, middle & high school students. Further, the shelters we will build will ensure that those horses remain healthy & happy.
