Dear Donors,

We trust you are doing well. We would like to give you a bird’s eye view of what happened during the month of June, 2022 at Palm Institute.

JOB-SHADOWING TESTIMONIAL

Palm Institute students are encouraged to take advantage of their summer holidays through job-shadowing, engaging in an internship or other employment activities.

Samuel Okoampa, who has completed his freshman year, is job-shadowing at Palm Institute.

“One of the greatest opportunities I have had in life was shadowing the Information Technology Officer at Palm Institute. He helped me understand the steps involved in pursuing a career path in information technology. I gained knowledge about local servers that use WordPress and hard-core coding to build a vibrant and secured interface for websites devoid of an internet connection. This experience has given me insight into applying information technology in the real world. I wish my job-shadowing experience at Palm Institute didn’t have to come to an end. I am grateful to the Student Life and Career Services Department for providing such great opportunities for students.”

ADMISSION OUTREACH

During the month of June, the admission team reached out to students, parents and teachers in Winneba, Cape Coast and Takoradi, in the Central and Western Regions of Ghana through radio and community outreaches to create awareness of what Palm Institute has to offer and recruit potential qualified students to offer on-the-spot admission for the 2022/2023 academic year. The team also participated in career fairs at Zion Girls Senior High School and Uncle Rich Senior High School in Winneba.

ADMISSION & SCHOLARSHIP INTERVIEWS

Palm Institute staff interviewed candidates interested in the Naa Amerley Palm Education (NAPE) and David Okai Okantey (DOO) Scholarships. Virtual and phone interviews were organized for those in regions far from Accra.  One student who was very optimistic shared, “I am interested in IT.  It is the future now so a NAPE Foundation or David Okai Okantey Foundation scholarship will go a long way to help me.

SECOND SEMESTER (WEEKEND SCHOOL)

The second semester for the students attending weekend school for the 2022/23 academic year began on Friday, June 10th, 2022.

FIRST RESIDENTIAL FACILITY

Thanks to the generosity of many donors, Palm Institute purchased more building materials and completed the block laying and lintel level for the second floor. We are so appreciative.  Thank you!
