March Project Update

By Kate McLetchie | Executive Director

Since launching this project eight months ago, we've received 100 donations from our online community that has allowed us to conserve 926 acres of Eastern Arc rainforest (funds raised total nearly $7,500). Thank you!!!

We are excited to let you know that Wednesday, March 16th is Bonus Day at GlobalGiving! All online donations will be matched at 30%, which means a gift of $20 will become $26, allowing ARC to conserve an additional 3 acres of rainforest for one year. Will you make a gift to help us reach our project goal of $10,000? We are almost there (thanks to supporters like you) and so excited to reach it. We have several new community-driven projects in the works and look forward to sharing them with you here on GlobalGiving.

We are currently working with our field partner - The Tanzania Forest Conservation Group - to upgrade the metrics we use for monitoring and evaluation of our conservation and community development programs, as well as bring you first-hand success stories and photos from the field (not always the easiest task when many of the places we work do not have electricity, let alone the Internet!). We see and hear about the impact of our work all the time, but understand that Tanzania is faraway for most of you and it is hard to fully understand how your dollars translate into real conservation. With a little creativity and careful thought we will be changing this. Stay tuned!

In February, ARC celebrated its 20th anniversary with the annual Artists for Africa benefit. If you weren't able to join us, you can read more about it here. If you live in the NYC area, please be on the lookout for upcoming spring and summer events that will highlight the work of the African Rainforest Conservancy. We are so excited to celebrate this special 20th anniversary year with you!
