REPORT TITLE: CONSERVATION AWARENESS CAMP FOR COMMUNITY

PROJECT TITLE: CONSERVATION OF NATIONAL BIRD INDIA

 VENUE:Pillayar Kovil Street

PRESIDENCE:Deputy Manager, Sales Division, Indian Overseas Bank

PRESENCE:  Animator and Representative Kalpana Chawla Women Self Help Group – Mela Arasaradi Panchayat Union.

             At Mela Arasaradi Panchayat Ottapidaram Block, Thoothukudi District Indian National Bird Peacock Conservation Awareness Programme was held. Indian Overseas Bank, Deputy Manager Sales Division Animator, Kalpana Chawla Women Self Help Group & Representative, Kalpana Chawla Women Self Help Group presented in the camp and grace the function. Global Giving aided Project Manager, Chevalier Roche Society, Project Co-ordinator, Chevalier Roche Society delivered lectures in this programme and provided Training about Peacock Conservation. During the training following information’s were offered. One of the naturally created species is peacock. It is the National Bird of India. Every one of our duty is to conserve the peacock bird. According to the Indian Forest Act – 1972 schedule-1 Peacock is the prohibited bird of our Nation. Being killed the Peacock, or hunted the same is the punishable crime. It was emphasized during the training programme. Hunting the peacock or killing the same in any manner is liable to acquire minimum 3-5 years imprisonment and Rs. 50,000/- amount of penalty also will be charged. Group discussion will be arranged for the villages people on the topic of by what cause do peacock die in various places and through interaction as a solution to the people some counsels were offered to them. During the discussion of arguments information’s received for the death of peacocks. Due to the destruction of forests for the cause of food and water peacocks enter into the villages. During this occasion the peacocks meet accidents and they die in some cases also. When they come into the village peacocks also meet electrical accidents and also die. This was also explained during this Training Programme. It was also explained that peacocks are killed sometimes by bitten of bests in the forest and by dogs. By men also peacocks are killed for meet and feathers by putting snairs and hunting. Due to the ignorance of common people, they use peacock oil for their knee pains thinking that it would are their knee pain. For that purpose they ignorantly kill the peacock. It was also explained in detail. Poisonous medicine mixed seeds powerful fertilizers mixed agricultural seeds are eaten by peacocks and they die because of this. Rat poisons is also eaten by peacocks and are dead because of this. It was also explained during the Training Programme. Indian National Bird Conservation Methods also were explained and taught. Awareness about the Peacock conservation must be created among all types of people.In order to avoid the entrance of peacocks into the agricultural fields; the farmers must keep the men like images. It was clearly explained to the trainees when the peacocks come into the agricultural fields during the morning and evening times for their food, just we may make noise and the Peacocks will go away from the agricultural fields. Being sought the water and food peacocks come into the village and town areas. In order to avoid that we must make arrangements for the peacocks at their living places themselves necessary water & food materials. They were also asked to convene the Awareness Programme about the Forest Conservation Act.We all people must come forward to love Nature and Naturally living birds and animals. The participants of the Training Programme were particularly asked to do so. Finally Project Co-ordinator, Chevalier Roche Society, Global Giving aided project delivered the Vote of thanks and the Training Programme was accomplishment successfully.
