REPORT TITLE: CONSERVATION AWARENESS AT SCHOOL

PROJECT TITLE: CONSERVATION OF NATIONAL BIRD, INDIA

 In our Thoothukudi District at our Mappillayurani Panchayat Area at the Govt. Middle School, Mappillayurani Village Awareness Programme regarding Peacock Conservation Awareness Training Programme was convened for Boys and Girls Students. During that programme following points were informed for the learning of students there.

All living beings have the right to eat and live. If will be sent able for animals and birds also. We must neither hurt or kill men or birds. In the case of Peacock it is a National Bird. It is a punishable crime to kill the same. The person who does this crime is punishable with the 5 years imprisonment and a penalty of Rs. 50,000/-. In Mappillayurani panchayat and its surrounding areas of Ottappidaram Block Peacocks are killed by the ways of hunting and poisoned food. For this crime so many cases have been filed by Forest Dept. That is why we are convening of regularly Awareness Programme about Peacock Conservation for the Public People farmers & Students (Boys & Girls) in this area. Peacock takes an important role in Bio-diversity and Food Cycle process. We have encouraged our volunteers to form the Peacock Conservation Squared to create the Awareness among the Boys and Girls students of the school and their parents. It was also emphasized among the students that they must inform the Forest Dept. at once as soon as they find any bird is hunted or meet an accident. Students were also instructed to form the teachers and parents Federation to protect the Peacock species. After the accomplishment of this Awareness programme Boy and Girl Students gathered there took oaths as follows.

  1. We will preserve the Natural Resources
  2. We will protect the National Bird
  3. We will Conserve the Peacock Species
  4. We will help all lives including the birds like Peacock to live peacefully.
