 PROJECT TITLE : CONSERVATION OF NATIONAL  BIRD, INDIA

REPORT TITLE : FORMATION OF PEACOCK PROTECTION FORCE  

 

Venue: R.C. Middle School – Puthiyamputhur

For Formation of peacock protection force,  Programme was presided over by, Headmaster,R.C. Middle school,Puthiyamputhur.  In the presence of , Assistant Head mistress, Teacher Mrs.Marrette, Mrs.Selvi and Mr.Pushparaj delivered the speech as formation of Indian National Bird Peacock conservation Students Squared.  

The following persons participated as special guests and delivered the lectures:

  1. State Co – ordinator, MPEDA Govt.of India, Ministry of Industries  
  2. Joint Secretary District Animals Conservation Group
  3. Director Abirami Society – Thoothukudi
  4.  Secretary Sea Trust, Thoothukudi

After the Lectures of the ideologists on peacock conservation, peacock protection force was formed. In this squard the following volunteer students were enrolled as incharge:

  Six students got the responsibility of serving as ‘peacock protection force ’’ in presence of Headmaster, teachers and other guests

RESPONSIBILITY AND DUTIES OF PEACOCK PROTECTION FORCE

v    If a peacock is affected by any accident or any animal, students peacock protection force must do the first aid, inform the condition to the Forest Department and to our NGO and arrange for further treatment

v    Providing counseling to the people who eat peacock as meat because of their ignorance

v    Making the farmers in the village to understand well about the National Bird Peacock

v    Creating Awareness to the people in the village about the forest laws especially regarding punishments being given for killing the peacocks.

v    Providing food and water for peacocks at their living places themselves.

After Peacock protection force taking oath and  responsibility all the members chief guest stood up and made the following assurances

v   We will conserve the National Bird

v   We will conserve the peacock species

v   We will love Nature and live

v   We will block the Peacock hunting

v   We will remove the ignorance of people

v   We will make the understanding among the people that peacock meat eating is wrong

v   We will emphasize that all lives have the right to live in this world.

v   We will provide meals not only to men but also to peacocks

v   We will known that powerful poison mixed seeds will be dangerous to lives of men also

v   We will conserve ….. conserve all bird kinds  finally by our, Manager,  

         Project manager, Chevaliar Roche society delivered the vote of thanks.

FORMATION OF   PEACOCK PROTECTION FORCE AT UNION MIDDLE SCHOOL

Venue: Panchayat Union Middle school, Puliyamarathu Arasadi – Ottapidaram Block

Head mistress Presided over this function , Teacher, Physical Education. , Project Manager offered first lecture on the purpose of the subject. Following that Teachers  delivered their ideas through lectures. After the purpose lecture and lectures of ideologists in this school peacock protection force In this squard following   students were enrolled as members.

 Four boys and four girls where selected for this peacock protection force

All Members of the Peacock conservation students square in the presence of Headmasters  look responsibility.

RESPONSIBILITY & DUTIES

  • In any occasion if a peacock is hurted  by accident or any animal students squard requires to the forest aid inform the condition of the bird to the forest Dept and to NGO and arrange for further treatment for speedy recovery
  • An important duty of the squard is to provide counseling to the people who kill and eat peacock as meat because of their ignorance
  • It is also necessary for the farmers to be knows well about the National Bird Peacock
  • Necessary arrangement food & water for Peacocks at their living places themselves
  • Motivation of Awareness to the people in the village about the forest Dep laws especially regarding punishment being given for hurting & killing the peacocks

After the peacock  protection force took responsibility all students and Teachers took Assurance.  

  • It is our duty to product the National Bird
  • Being not hurted the wild lives and Nature we will love the same and live suitable to the Nature.
  • It is our duty to product the peacock species
  • We shall take necessary steps to stop the peacock hunding
  • We are confident to remove the ignorance of people We must create understanding among the

        People that eating the peacock meat is wrong

  • We will emaciate that all lives have the right for independent living in this world
  • We must take necessary actions to provide meats not only for men but also for peacocks
  • We must give arrange food and shelter for all kinds of bird.
  • We will understand that powerful poison mixed seeds will be dangerous not only for peacock

       but also for human community. Finally Mr.Peppy Dasan, Organizer, Chevaliar Roche Society  

      delivered the vote of thanks.  

PEACOCK CONSERVATION AWARENESS PROGRAMME

BRAIN STORM SESSION ( WITH FARMERS, DISTRICT LEVEL NGOs,GOVT. OFFICERS )  – GROUP DISCUSSION PROGRAMME

 

Venue: Community Welfare Centre, Puthiyamputhur (Ottapidaram Block)  

 President, Puthiyamputhur Panchayat union presided Over this Programme in   the presence of the Director,  Chevaliar Roche Society, Tuticorin.

 The following ideologists participated in this Programme and offered lectures during this Group discussion Programme

1)               State Co-ordinator Govt. of India,Ministry of Industries, MPEDA

2)                Director, Abirami Society,(NGO) Thoothukudi

3)                District Animal Conservation Society,  Joint Secretary,                                 

                     Vilathikulam  

4)             Secretary  Sea Trust,(NGO) Thoothukudi

Regarding the conservation of our National bird Peacock ideologist explained in detail. After that farmers were divided into 2 Groups (1) Reasons for peacocks mass death (2) Various conservation strategies.  Every group 15 men and women participated.

REASONS FOR PEACOCKS MASS DEATH (First Group)

  1. For the purpose of meat peacocks are hunted and killed
  2. As peacocks eat the poison sprayed seeds, they die
  3. Because of the attacks by other beasts peacocks die
  4. For the purpose of sales also peacocks are hunted and killed
  5. Sometimes peacocks are hunted and killed for their feathers
  6. Due to the Electricity shock by the current passing in fences.

 

VARIOUS CONSERVATION STRATEGIES  (Second Group)

  1. Regarding theimportance of Conserving peacocks Awareness must be provided to farmers, women, public people, Students etc such all types of people.
  2. Motivation to use Natural fertilizes and insecticides in Agriculture.
  3. Electric fences must be avoided
  4. Hidden sales of peacock must be prohibited.
  5. People must avoid eating peacock meat
  6. By forming the village level groups peacock hunting must be prohibited
  7. By rearing fruit trees such as Kodukkappuli, Navel and adult peacock can easily get their food from these trees
  8. For the manufacture of Dresses and ornaments from peacock feathers Peacocks are hunted .
  9. By eating eggs of peacocks.
  10. When peacocks are flying near the light post and their writes, they get shock and die.
  11. Peacock meets death in road accidents also.
  12. For the purpose peacock oil also peacocks killed
  13. Sometimes peacocks are caught up the nests being kept up for wild beasts and other wild birds. In this occasm some peacocks die.
