Winter Warmer Campaign

By Julia Elliott | Fundraising and Reporting Manager

This winter, the Zululand Conservation Trust carried out its Winter Warmer Campaign to support the children at the four creches surrounding Manyoni Private Game Reserve. The initiative focused on ensuring that every child had access to a warm blanket during the colder months, when temperature swings are especially challenging for young children.

Through the generosity of our supporters, a total of 91 blankets were donated by the general public, and Absa contributed an additional 50 blankets. This brought the total to 141 blankets, allowing us to provide every child at the creches with the warmth and comfort they needed.

The blankets were distributed as follows:

  • Mbuzeli Creche: 32 blankets
  • Speakman Creche: 34 blankets
  • Ubhejane Creche: 32 blankets
  • Mzamoyethu Creche: 43 blankets

This distribution meant that each child was able to receive their own blanket, ensuring they could stay warm through the winter. The campaign not only provided practical relief but also strengthened the connection between the reserve and the surrounding communities, reinforcing the importance of care and support for those who live alongside conservation areas.

Together, this campaign has made a meaningful impact on the lives of the children, providing them with comfort and protection during the colder season.
