In efforts to catch up with increasing demands at the Agricultural training Centre, GCA recently acquired more materials for its trainings. The materials included seven Shelves for many bags of substrate material and mushroom planting boxes. With these, there is a huge potential to facilitate the training of many more farmers for months to come. Additionally these materials are helping to provoke further research into various types of substrate material for the common good in the area. These efforts are not without difficulties as the material are proving to be so attractive to buds, and rats that help to destroy the very essence of the research. Another cause for concern is the presence of green mould which often ramifies the substrate material faster than the require mushroom. One of GCA staff Justin happily declared “Am becoming a happy researcher in Mushroom Cultivation issues” Thanks to Global Giving funds GCA is are able to venture into more research and seek alternatives to fight the rats and attempt ways to handle the green mould.
