The project will establish a training center for rural Cameroonian farmers. Green Care will train farmers in modern agricultural/agro-forestry techniques, promote conservation and income generating activities such as bee keeping and non-conventional livestock.
Most rural Cameroonians are subsistence farmers and due to the population pressure, quality farm land has become obsolete. Farmers use marginalized land which leads to much lower yields. They are clearing forest and natural lands to cultivate more farm land, which has exacerbated environmental degradation and climate change. If the problem is not corrected in the next 10 years, farmers will not be able to produce enough food to feed their families and will have cleared most natural forests.
Green Care will empower rural communities through trainings on modern agricultural/agro-forestry techniques, environmental education and agricultural income generating activities like bee farming and non-conventional livestock. Our classes will teach farmers that by improving their land they will have an increase in yields, more income generating opportunities outside farming and help in the battle against climate change.
By establishing a conservation and agricultural training center this project will help rural Cameroonians for generations. We will teach farmers proper agricultural techniques that will improve their yield. To address climate change, we will introduce agro-forestry techniques and plant thousands of trees. Additionally, we will teach agricultural income generating activities to help improve the lives of farmers.
