Bee farming workshop in Nkuv Village
With increasing interest for Bee farming, Green Care Association on Wednesday the 11st of December offered a workshop on Bee farming to the remote farmers of Nkuv some 37 km from Shisong village. The workshop attended by 23 persons treated topics like qualities of a good bee keeper, Types of Bees and Hives, Where to set up a bee farm, Honey harvesting techniques and processing, Bee farming Calendar and Managing of bee stings. This gave Green Care the opportunity to educate and propose solutions to participants on how to handle or avoid White aunts, Honey barger, Rats attack to Hives. The use of chemicals to clean Hive surrounding was also discouraged in very strong terms, considering that it was already gaining grounds.
The remote community of Nkuv through their lead farmer Mr Peter Dzelamonyuy, was very appreciative of the training and promise to offer a site for Green Care to establish a bee farming demonstration farm. Mary Fatima one of the ladies participants declared her special appreciation by saying “am now going to become a full scale bee farmer. Thanks to Global Giving through Green Care”.
The community was so appreciative of the trainings that they offered Green Care Team some local drink ‘palm wine’ and food ‘fufu and Njamajama’ It was all joy beyond imagination.
