Tree planting at Ndzenshwai Community Water Catchment.
On the 20th June 2013 Green Care staffs together with15 local volunteers planted 250 trees at the Ndzenshwai community water catchment. This was a long awaited effort, considering that the management committee forwarded an appeal letter to Green Care Association to help in tree planting at the water catchment some close to five months ago.
The species planted were Prunus Africana, Polysia fulva, Voacanga africana, Ilexmetics, and Pitosporum.
One of the volunteers Mr Wirba Kesta after planting declared “ I remain very happy planting valuable trees in our water catchment. I am willing to volunteer planting many more trees if given another opportunity”
The chairman of the water management committee, Shey John Njinyuy, on behalf of the Ndzenshwai community was very happy and extended heartfelt appreciation to GlobalGiving for paying for the trees which are going to improve their wellbeing.
The tree planting exercise, like in most cases, gave Green Care the opportunity to educate volunteers on the values of tree planting, thereby recommending the introduction of Bee farming to reduce careless human activity in the site and generate income.
Green Care as always, is thankful to GlobalGiving.
