We are thrilled to announce that all 12 laptops have arrived safely in Bumpe and were presented to the community.
Before the school year starts, Hindo has secured a safe office space to offer training for groups of teachers and students on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Participants will have access to laptops for 90 minute training and activity time slots and then rotate throughout the day. The computers will then be moved to Bumpe High School once a space and electricity is secured.
Hindo is now hoping to obtain solar panels as a cleaner solution to a diesel generation to power the laptops. To ensure batteries can be replaced and cover operating costs, students and teachers will be charged for a small fee to charge their mobile phones in one of the lab rooms and proceeds will go to paying the IT tutor, security, and a contribution for the battery fund.
We would welcome you to make a renewed contribution to the project, which will go towards the costs of setting up a solar power solution for the laptops! A total of $3,653 is needed to secure the solar panels.
Thank you for your support to date and for helping to bring access to technology training to young people after such a challenging year for Sierra Leone!
