Dear Donors,
It is time to get back to you with the news from our computer literacy programs for under privileged girls and women. We are making differences in their lives with these programs. Many have started earning and gained confidence in their ability to use computers for their day to day activites. In this digitally progressing World it is very important to have basic knowledge about computers and social media for the sustainable development of the marginlised communities. keeping that in mind , IDEA started computer centres in Kothrud and Bopkhel for girls and women from poor background and the courses are conducted free of charge. Thank you donors for your generous donations.
IDEA is running his computer courses successfully in the Bopkhel centre for last one year. Many girls and women in the age group 15- 60 are benefitted from this course.
IDEA is the first centre to run an online computer course for free in Bopkel. There are 2 different courses for women in our study centre.
1. Finance Literacy Program
2. NDLM certificate Program.
1. Finance Literacy Program
Finance Literacy program is developed by TATA Capital and it is an online course for one month with 9 modules. The course is in English as well as in Hindi. Primary knowledge of banking, insurance, retirement plans and investments are covered in this course with the help of audio and video programs and it is an interactive course. The students are finding it really useful.
2. NDLM Certification
IDEA is conducting NDLM or National Digital Literacy Mission program in its centres. NASSCOM Foundation has designed this course and they give us technical support for running this program. 129 students have completed this course in Bopkhel IDEA centre , 67 students appeared for the exam and 64 students passed the exam. Certificates were given to the students who have completed the course successfully. The course is really useful for women working in different fields like beauty parlour , tailoring ..etc as they now know how to use social media and youtube to get better ideas and get publicity for their work. They can also learn new techniques and patterns with the help of internet. Some women got jobs in billing sections of big malls. Many students who completed this course got confidence to learn more about computers and joined advanced computer courses. These courses are making many women employable in this digital World.
Success Story
32 year old Radha is from Rajasthan, she has settled down in Pune with her husband in a rented house. She hails from a very poor family, she could not continue education after 4th std. Her husband is also not well educated, they are running a small business in Pune. They have 2 children and as they have realized that without good education life will be miserable for their children too, they have enrolled them in an English medium school. But though they want the very best for their children, they are not able to help their children in their studies at home. When they heard about IDEA computer centre, Radha has decided to join as she knew with the help of computer she can help her children to access information which she lacks. She is learning basic computer skills with great interest and gaining confidence to help her children with their queries. She is thankful to IDEA for giving her an opportunity to be of support to her children.
