Dear Supporters,
Greetings from Team IDEA !
By trying to make India a connected knowledge economy with the help of promoting computer literacy through NDLM mission, Government of India has taken huge leap towards development. National Digital Literacy Mission. IDEA Foundation has started a computer training center to reach out to the marginalized communities in Pune and Bopkhel under the National Digital Literacy Mission. Many students have already completed our basic computer course and are benefitting out of it.
Under Umang project IDEA Foundation initiated its first NDLM Centre at Bopkhel in collaboration with Tata Communications. This Centre started its 2 months computer basics course on 20st August 2015, with five batches. We received a very good response for Basic Computer course in Bopkhel.
Till March 2015, 129 students got enrolled here. Students are from all age groups and all are females. The students are from different educational and family backgrounds. Some of them have not even completed high school education and left schooling, some are school students and very few are graduates. But still they all were equally eager to learn new technologies and they all have thoroughly enjoyed the learning process.
Preparing them for the assessment was an herculean task for IDEA staff, from the technical point of view and from the student’s perspective. The online exam was a big challenge for as there were many technical hitches which were to be overcome by the support from NASSCOM.
Total 83 Students got validated and till end of march 2016, 67 students appeared for online examination. We are very proud to declare that 64 have cleared the examinations.
Our second center in Kothrud in Pune was inagurated October 2015 with software ,hardware and employee engagement support from Symantec http://www.symantec.com/…/symantec-supports-digital-literac…
The impact of the Digital literacy programme has motivated us to open a third center in Uttam Nagar in Pune , shortly.
