Dear donors,

Warm greetings!

As part of our initiative of bringing more people into the literate world, we conduct computer literacy classes and also sponsor a few children to complete MSCIT, basic computer course from various institutes. 5 girls and 1 boy are supported to join MSCIT course in Bhor. These children are from Indiranagar and Sanjay nagar slum communities and they recently completed the course. 5 girls from Pune learned to operate computer in IDEA’s office and 5 more girls are about to complete MSCIT course soon. Namita is one of them.

NAMITA

Namita's mother earlier worked as a teacher with the IDEA Foundation. However, due to familial problems, she had to quit and take up the work of domestic help. Her income has to provide for her domestic expenses and her children's education. Namita secured 74% in 10th and her brother also did well in 12th. They are aware that higher education will be costly.

Hence, when Namita expressed the wish to learn computers, her mother was concerned. Namita would need to be computer literate if she was to become a Chartered Accountant as she had wanted and the quality of computer education offered by her school was abysmal. Even though her mother knew the importance of computers in her child's education, she was equally aware of her inability to pay for the expensive classes offering training in computers.

She received much needed help from her former employers. IDEA offered to pay for half of Namita's fees for the MSCIT classes under their Computer Literacy Programme. She enrolled her daughter immediately and things worked out well.

Says Namita, "I was awfully scared of the classes earlier. Having studied in a vernacular, I knew I would face problems with English while understanding concepts and operating the computer. However, the one-on-one approach that the teachers adopt at the classes helped me overcome the problems with great ease!"

The MSCIT classes have made a confident girl out of Namita, confident about filling the form for her Std. XI admission, confident about becoming a successful CA, confident about taking on the tech-savvy world.

Thank you for being instrumental in bringing about this change in Namita. We wish to sponsor many such Namita with your support and bring them in this virtual world. Are you ready?
